In the Beauty, Fashion and Entertainment industries the standard of beauty is constantly evolving, but for Denise and Janice Tunnell beauty is not just skin deep. With over 16 years each of experience working on the faces of Hollywood’s most sought after celebrities, these ladies are ushering in a new approach to makeup and skincare both on and off camera.
The twin sisters were born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. They each received Accounting and Business Management degrees from North Carolina State University, before moving into the world of beauty to freelance for high-profile brands such as “Giorgio Armani”, “Bobbi Brown”, “MAC” and “Smashbox Cosmetics”; honing their skills while taking the Film and TV world by storm. Collectively, they have touched the faces of Gabrielle Union, Shailene Woodley, Anthony Mackey, Roselyn Sanchez, Carmelo Anthony, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Kerry Washington, Terrance Howard, Josh Henderson, Rosie O' Donnell, Esai Morales, Margaret Cho, Dania Ramirez, Idris Elba, and Michael Clarke Duncan to name a few.
The sisters have worked behind the scenes of the silver screen and tv on fan favorites like “Stomp the Yard”, “Hustle and Flow”, “Ladder 49”, “The Wedding Crashers”, “Big Fish”, “Step Up”, “Preachers Kid”, “The Wire”, “Vampire Diaries”, ”The Hunger Games” and many more. Their innovative approach to everything from skincare to makeup application and style tips gives the ladies an edge over the competition and allowing them to connect with their public on a more personal level
Early in their careers the sisters recognized how impactful their knowledge of skincare and makeup techniques could be to the masses, as well as the need for more options for women of color. So in 2006, “Illusions Cosmetics” was created and introduced to the world as a full line of color cosmetics for all women of color.
